Late Night Alumni...
An album with a very original sound. They mix Dance/house music with strings and the very soft trance like vocals, and they do it quite well. It is a chill out album for sure, the beat is always very slow almost like a heart beat acting as a pulse for a complex body that most of these songs are. The lead singers smooth, almost reassuring voice could lull even the most tightly wound person into a state of complete relaxation. The mixture of interments in this album is fantastic, in one track they have used orchestral strings, one track they have a flamenco style acoustic guitar, and in others they've synthesised sounds and beats in, and this all creates a very 'trippy' experience. This is an album that puts a smile on your face, every album has some part of your body tapping along to the beat, the music just engulfs you, lay down close your eyes and stick this on and you'd be a million miles away. With tracks like Beautiful on the album, which sound as soft as a cloud, and tracks like the rest of you which have a slightly higher tempo to get your foot tapping again, this album will have you intently listening from start to finish. The lyrics on the album can be a bit Cliché, but this is only a minor problem as the singers voice is so calming you mainly fail to notice.
High points The album's original structure and soothing beats, a very chilled out album.
Low points The sometimes repetitive lyrics, some of the songs need a bit of substance. |
