Simon Webbe rehearses for T4... and I was there!!

Today I managed to get a sneaky peek at the new material of Simon Webbe, one of the members of the massively successful UK band Blue. Simon embarks on his solo career this summer with 'Lay your Hands', due out on 8th August.

I wasn't sure what to expect from an artist who was 1of the 4  in the 13 million record-selling Blue - would he take the route of R&B, along with artists such as Mario and Usher? No. I am pleasantly surprised to report that Simon has created an original sound which cannot be classed in this genre.

The products of six months since the end of Blue are an album, which is due out later in the year, and a slice of soulful uplifting pop, in a style which Simon has deemed 'urban folk'. His debut single is a mix of acoustic and bass guitars, drums, keyboard, and smooth vocals, also highlighting Simon's song writing ability, as it was co-written with Matt Prime and Tim Woodcock.

During the T4 rehearsal I found the song very catchy, especially the anthemic chorus, and feel sure that both the single and album will do well in the charts.

My prediction for 'Lay your Hands' would be No.2.

You can catch the single on the 'Best of Blue' Tour, in record shops, and all over the radio this summer.
