Coldplay at Koko (Radio 1 Gig)

Coldplay took over Camden last night at the newly revamped Koko.

The venue has instantly become my favourite gig haunt - they've done a fantastic job, all plush red vistas as far as the eye can see.

Oh my god, I thought i had died and gone to heaven!! Every which way you looked there were the country's most beautiful young women craning their necks to admire Britains premier act of the moment COLDPLAY. Chris Martin has the charisma to make all wilt in his path and the boys seemed just as happy singing along and welling up - male emotional emancipation at last! The band showcased a heck of a lot of  songs from the new album X and Y and I have to say that they keep up the good work. As with previous albums there are definite future classics which have got to be the encore played 'Fix You'. Fragile and beautiful, Martin has a gift of getting the words and the tunes going all in the same direction! Also 'What If' stands out even if it feels slightly like a Coldplay by numbers - but who's gonan complain when they set their stall out so laden with beauties!  Latest track Speed of Sound is almost a big as  ellow and The Scientist already with the incredible amount of airplay they've received.

If there was one disappointment of the night it was that they didnt play 'Shiver'. My personal favourite track - even worse was that it was actually written down on the set list but crossed out!!! Why did they do that!! Arghhh...also I noted that they didnt play Trouble. I guess as the band continue to stick out great songs, future set lists will have even greater victims!

The crowd were apoplectic by the end and Chris Martin obviously thoroughly enjoyed himself, even getting on his knees and bowing to the audience at one point as they carried on the vocal duties! nterestingly, they even managed to get together as a band in the middle of the stage midway through the set to do, what was to be
a Johnny cash track -Til Kingdom Come’.

I noticed Fearne Cotton and Simon Pegg on the way out - the best looking gal, the funniest guy and the best songwriter...all in one room!!!

Make sure you see Coldplay this year as I honestly cant imagine they can get any better than they are right now. Surfing the wave and doing Britain proud.
