Camille’s Music Hole
Female, foreign and relentlessly experimental
"I tried to mix the story-telling feel from musicals with something more tribal: body percussions, minimalist trance, sub bass and throat singing", says French born Camille about her new album ‘Music Hole’, which is released on 7 April.
Camille is often spoken of in the same breath as Björk, mainly because she’s female, foreign and relentlessly experimental, but most likely because you’ll probably either love or hate her.
'Music Hole' is co-produced by Camille and MaJiKer. It features collaborations with the body percussion masters from the Brazilian band Barbatuques, Jamie Cullum on piano percussions and beatbox by Sly Johnson.
It’s her live performances that have really won over the UK. Her wacky audience participation routines and startling inventiveness have won her critical acclaim.
Camille was rewarded at the French Grammies, 'Les Victoires de la Musique' in 2006 with the coveted Best New Act & Best New Album award, and won the French Mercury Music Prize, ‘Prix Constantin’ in 2005. The album ‘Music Hole’ is out on 7 April
