Sinead O'Connor returns with her new album
17 tracks, 17 collaborations, the same wonderful voice- Sinead O'Connor returns with her new album charting all her works with some of music's finest
Its been a while since we've heard from Sinead but what a return with her brand new 'Collaborations' album.
The new record boasts 17 tracks with her voice- still angelic and ethereal as ever, it is amalgamated with some of the industry's finest from Terry Hall of The Specials fame to Asian Dub Foundation. All the tracks hold their own but are rooted within the ever-encapsulating vocal ability of the Irish songstress.
Some tracks have been heard before. The album launches with Massive Attacks' 'Special Cases', the best track on 100th Window and one of the best on this one. Sinead has lent her skills to all styles, rhythms and themes. Benjamin Zephaniah's poetry goes hand in hand on 'Empire' and the Afro Celt Sound System are more than on target with 'Release'.
Although this is a collaborations album, each track holds Sinead's vocal as if it where its own and vice versa. The mix and blends prove she could easily be a member of any of these groups. This is a display of varied skills and tastes but also shows her malleability in being able to fit with Conjure, The Edge and Peter Gabriel.
The album serves a dish that leaves a sweet taste on the palate, reinforcing her durability and emphasising her uniqueness-holding one of the best voices in the business.
