“Do It To It,” the sexy, street savvy first single from Unappreciated, Cherish’s debut Sho’Nuff/Capitol album, is shaping up as one of the first party anthems of the summer. It’s already #19 on Billboard’s Hot 100, #9 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart and #10 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and 73 million in audience. “Do It To It” features a guest rap from Sean Paul of YoungBloodz (who also appears in the video) and was produced by Don Vito (Jagged Edge, Mya).
The Atlanta-based R&B quartet, comprised of four sisters (Farrah, 22, Neosha, 20, and 18-year-old twins Felicia and Fallon), has been confirmed as an opening act on one of the summer’s hottest tours – Chris Brown and Ne-Yo’s “Up Close And Personal” tour. (Tour dates are listed below.) Last Friday, Cherish performed at the kick-off of TEEN PEOPLE’s Rock ‘N Shop mall tour in Minneapolis and the foursome recently brought a little of the ATL to “Good Morning America,” teaching viewers how to snap dance. Those who missed the show can check out their “How To Snap Dance” instructional video – which was highlighted in a recent Wall Street Journal article on the snap dance phenomenon – as well as the video for “Do It To It” at www.cherishsisters.com.
The video for “Do It To It,” directed by Benny Boom (Ciara, Nelly, Keyshia Cole, 50 Cent), was just added at MTV. It’s in heavy rotation at BET, which aired a “Making of ‘Do It To It’” special, and has also been added by MTV Hits and MTV Jams. “Do It To It” was recently the “Pre-RL” featured video on MTV’s “TRL” and is airing on FUSE’S “Hip Hop Countdown.” Cherish performed on the BET Awards Pre-Show and appeared on MTV’s “Sucker Free” (formerly “Direct Effect”) in late June.
Other highlights from Unappreciated, scheduled for release on August 15th, include “Chick Like Me,” which features Cherish chopping it up about their taste in guys, “Moment In Time,” a sweet ballad where the understated musical arrangement makes the girls’ vocals shine and the infectious title track, a frank testament from a lover who’s being taken for granted. The latter is one of three tracks produced by Sho’Nuff CEO and multi-Platinum producer Jazze Pha, known for his work with Ciara, Nelly, 2Pac and others. The vibe on Unappreciated ranges from sassy to sensuous to crunk, reflecting each of the girls’ unique sensibilities and resulting in a knockout musical presentation.
“Because we write so much, we like producers who can build a song around what we do,” says Fallon. “We love the chemistry that we have with the producers on our album.” And a stellar group of producers it is, including Jasper (Nelly, Christina Aguilera, Monica) and Adonis (Ciara) in addition to Jazze Pha and Don Vito.
